We're busy setting up the gift shop for Spring 2010 and it's going to be the best yet!
We shopped the Chicago and Atlanta market's and found fun and exciting garden and home decor items.
Bring your outside in with birds, botanicals, ferns and cows (yes cows... OMG they are so cute we
couldn't pass them up) and your inside out with art canvas's that are weatherproof and UV
resistant. Whimsical statuary, beautiful containers, yard art, benches and much more will fill
both Canoyer locations.
New this year to go along with our Kay Berry memorial stones, are memorial flags in a variety of
styles. Also new, Geeky Beeks in fun sport styles, gazing globes, Tula gardening hats, Atlas gloves
and much, much more. And of course we will continue to carry our Woodwick Candle and Reed Diffuser line,
Kathy's yummy Butter Pecan candle and everything else you enjoy seeing at Canoyer's.

Don't forget to purchase Soil Moist and our PW Continous Release
Fertilizer. Soil Moist is a life saver!! It's water crystals that
you mix into the soil when you plant your container.
As you water, the crystals expand and hold
the water until the soil starts to dry out,
then the crystals release the water as needed.
Soil moist will reduce plant waterings!! It really works!
Our time release fertilizer is great too, it last 6-9 months. It allows your plants to get the nutrition they need without having to use water soluble fertilizer. We do sugggest to use the water soluble once a week along
with the time release... your plants will be beautiful!
We also have the time release fertilizer in the pellets...very handy, just push them into a hanging basket, house plant, or a flower bed

Three Months Before Christmas

T'was three months before Christmas and all through the store, not a snowflake was dropping, not one on the floor. The boxes were put in the attic with care, all priced and unpacked and presorted up there. With Halloween out and fall turkeys too, we were turning lazy and considering what to do. When what to our wondering eyes should drive up, but a UPS man and a FED EX pickup. With a nod and a scribble and a high five to Nick, I knew right away this wouldn't be quick. More boxes and boxes and boxes they came, right off those trucks and they called us by name.
Now Kathy, Now Robin, Now Marilyn and Michelle, Carts Kyle, Carts Tyler, and Doug get the bell. To the top of the stairs, to the large attic pile, now hurry, hurry, this will all take awhile. So up all those steps, they took them in two's, With boxes full of Christmas, and a little Halloween too. And then in an instant, they heard down the stairs, Robin changing her mind, she didn't want them up there. As we drew in a breath and started back down, out fell a box and we all stood around.
All wrapped up in tissue, from one end to the other, popped out a raccoon, and with its mother. What looked like just one and quite possible more, looked like they could maybe take over the store. "What! 72 raccoons! “Rachel Sortino said, and shook her head and then said with dread.”Robin, why did you order so many,
it looks like an army, it's really quite scary!
"The other's they gasped and didn't dare speak, and Robin she spoke and her voice wasn't meek." Now all you don't worry, don't fester, don't fret, these raccoons aren't scary, we'll sell this l bet. "They spoke not a word but went straight to work; they priced and unpackaged and then turned with a jerk and looking there at them and striking a pose, was the UPS man who sat rubbing his toes. He sprang to his truck, and began a low whistle and we all sat and stared as he flew like a missile. But we heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, See you Canoyer's next week, and to that a good-night! |

It's time to plant bulbs!
FALL PREPARATION FOR ROSES
Cutting back roses in the fall is usually not necessary for several reasons. One, some roses bloom on old wood (climbers, for example), and pruning in the fall may jeopardize blooms for the spring. Also, unless it’s a climbing rose that’s 6’ or more in height, leaving canes not pruned will allow a gardener more canes to work with when re-shaping in the spring.
A general rule of thumb for winter rose protection is own root & most shrub roses are winter hardy and don’t need as much special attention. Grafted roses should be protected for winter by using a 2” to 3” layer of mulch around the base of each plant. You can also use a rose collar and add big bark mulch, straw or crushed oak leaves inside the collar as an insulator. Be sure the graft is 1” to 2” below soil grade. For climbing roses, wrapping in burlap is a great way to insulate for the winter.

Christmas Caravan-Tour of homes
Canoyer Garden Center is participating in the Christmas Caravan again this year. Robin, Kathy and some of our staff will be decorating a house at Champion Run: 14102 Eagle Run Drive. This event is sponsored by the Assistance Leage. The Event will be Thursday November 4th from 10am-8pm. This is a tour of four homes in the area. Christmas Caravan-Tour of Homes
Canoyer Garden Center is participating in the Christmas Caravan again this year. Robin, Kathy and some of our staff will be decorating a house at Champion Run: 14102 Eagle Run Drive. This event is sponsored by the Assistance League. The Event will be Thursday November 4th from 10am-8pm. This is a tour of four homes in the area.
